Why you should join:

Happy people that have run the path testify how rewarding it is (and we'd love to introduce them to you!).

Plus, lots of IESE alumni start search funds years after graduation, so it’s worth getting familiar now.

What we'll build - and how

Club Members
Inner Circle
Structured Onboarding

Organise informational talks from experienced members of the community for those who are new to the search fund model, from the basic “what is a search fund” to more specific aspects of the search process (fundraising, searching, operating), to help smooth the introduction for club members to the world of search funds.

Social Events

A low pressure social event each term that turns interest into belonging - welcoming new members, connecting them with the core group, and helping people form teams for workshops, the trek, and the case competition.

PPM, LOI & CIM Sessions

For those who are more familiar with the model and want to deepen their understanding of the technical skills necessary to find and purchase a company, we will offer skills sessions from relevant professionals, focusing on the main technical steps in the acquisition process.

Example Talks
Is Spain market saturated?
The Reflection: Everyone says the Spanish ETA market is becoming overcrowded, but is that just noise? While we often hear concerns about too many searchers chasing too few deals, the data paints a different picture: over 1,250 PE-backed SMEs versus fewer than 100 active Search Funds. This deep dive challenges the prevailing narrative by analyzing the hard numbers to uncover where the real whitespace remains.
Other ETA models
The Reflection: The traditional funded search isn't a one-size-fits-all path to the CEO seat. This session will unpack self-funded, incubated, and independent sponsor models so you can figure out which structure actually aligns with your personal risk tolerance, capital needs, and desire for operational control.
AI in the age of search
The Reflection: In today's landscape, proprietary sourcing is the deciding factor between a successful acquisition and a busted search. Moving beyond the buzzwords, this discussion will explore exactly how searchers are practically deploying AI to automate top-of-funnel outreach, accelerate tedious due diligence, and uncover off-market targets. We will discuss how tech adoption is becoming a mandatory equalizer for the modern searcher.
IESE
Middle Ring
Introductory Session

As part of expanding the club’s visibility and in line with our intention to drive engagement from the IESE community, we will establish an annual “introductory session” for those who haven’t come across the model before, setting out what search funds are, why they should consider them, and fielding any questions from students curious about the model.

October Conference

We will help facilitate the school in putting on the 7th International Search Fund Conference, one of the world’s preeminent search fund conferences, pushing IESE’s status as Europe’s leading school for Search Funds.

Women in Search Funds

We will grow women’s participation in the search fund community by hosting sessions with women investors, operators, and searchers - making the pathways visible, simplifying the process, and creating a clear introduction to club activities.

Internships

We will work with funds-of-funds and alumni connections to improve internship discovery and matching, while advocating for more paid opportunities so access isn’t limited by financial constraints.

Trek & SF Competition

We will continue with two of the standout events of our first year, while implementing changes built on learnings from the previous iterations. These are key events in our mind which help cement IESE’s status as the leader in this space.

Expanded Students Scope

Expand IESE communication scope to include EMBAs and MiM students with a dedicated mailing list, to ensure they can also participate in club activities.

New Investors

We will expand the base of investors available to IESE searchers, while maintaining the solid current network with whom we already have relationships.

Alumni Database

It is our intention to start IESE’s first comprehensive list of Search Fund Alumni, for ongoing use by the club in coming years. This will help build relationships with those who have already gone through the process, who may be able to provide helpful advice to those wanting to pursue Search Funds.
